As the first woman to serve as France’s Minister of Health and as the first woman President of the European Parliament, Simone Veil paved new trails in leadership. She used her platform to advocate for women’s equality and used her power to improve the lives of her compatriotes. Veil was instrumental in legalizing abortion in France, and the law guaranteeing this right is known as “La Loi Veil.”
